Today you see DIY tutorials popping up all over the web. Once executed well there are so many wild things you can create. But then I began to see various people’s treatments of the style and I must say I’ve grown to love it. I must admit, my initial reaction was that it was cringe worthy – being flooded with memories of the horrible tie dye t-shirts that ran rampant when I was a kid. I hope to have the opportunity to use Mockshop in the future, as I find it is a progressive tool in an industry that is quickly evolving into the digital world, as with most other things.
For retailers these tools are likely a dream come true. They have created several products, one of which is Mockshop. The creators of Mockshop have all been involved in some aspect of the industry for many years and developed their business iShopShape in the hopes of digitally streamlining the fashion processes and support all the stages of a products life cycle. Most people are still unaware of what my job title means – unless you are in the industry. The US and Australia have also managed to place their mark on the global market, but sadly for the rest of the world it seems to be still perceived as the house wife’s/ gay man’s hobby. The UK seems to be increasingly progressive with that type of market and a great focus has been put on supporting that industry there. At least from my experience there’s been little information out there. Visual Merchandising and Window Dressing are re-emerging professions, so there are few easily accessible sources for those of us who are just starting out in the industry. You can create your plans simply by dragging and dropping, and enables you to provide a comprehensible visual of your vision.
What I found most appealing about this program was that it didn’t seem outdated like the old AutoCAD programs I was used in school. It is incredibly user friendly and versatile. Mockshop is a virtual reality tool that enables you to create visual merchandising layouts and planograms with ease. While trolling around on the great vast web, searching for new information associated with my profession, I came across this interesting promo video about Mockshop.
